I feel like that’s the question everyone asks first. They want to know if they’re going to see colors, feel like a tree spreading their roots into the ground, and be one with the mycelium of the world. The answer to that is a resounding no. I took two doses of this product:
½ an Amanita Muscaria Gummy
This dosage provided a pleasant experience I look forward to recreating again. Hometown Hero recommends a ¼ of a gummy, but I wasn’t quite certain what experience that would give. With Amanita Muscaria being described as spiritual, I wanted to ensure that I experienced its full effects. The gummies took about 30 minutes to an hour to hit their full effects, which is expected as edibles take a bit longer for my body to process. The feel the gummies gave was great. There was no head buzz with it, but my body had a buzz. I can only describe the feelings it provides as happy and content.
It wasn’t a “I want to relax in the couch because I can’t move”, rather a “I want to exist here because I’m at peace”. It also raised the intensity of physical sensations. One thing that was rather nice about the gummies is that, after the gummy was wearing off or I was noticing it less, it didn’t make me incredibly tired. Instead, I felt ready to continue my day.
I asked my spouse who also had one of the Hometown Amanita gummies and she said “My first time I ate half of one. The first hour I had a head buzz which led to me feeling very slloooww like I was moving physically and mentally in jelly. It felt like it lasted hours but in reality I was only this way for like about 2 hours. The remaining night I felt energized and refreshed but with a slight buzz in my head.”
A whole Amanita Muscaria gummy
Curious about whether I could experience any visual hallucinations or have a spiritual experience, I decided to pop a full Amanita Muscaria edible — and the experience was not what I expected. While the effects that I felt with the ½ gummy were more intense, I still did not have that spiritual experience. I believe that is because the amount of the psychoactive ingredients (muscimol and ibotenic acid) included in the gummies themselves are not strong enough to incite these reactions. This is probably good as these ingredients in too high amounts can be poisonous (but we’re talking about eating multiple of the pure mushroom caps without properly treating them.)
The feeling of contentness and oneness was certainly more pronounced than having half a gummy. However, it strangely didn’t feel like it increases the duration of the effect. It’s possible that as I became so content I didn’t notice the increased duration. However, I asked my spouse what her effects with the whole gummy were and she said “Oddly enough, eating a whole one gave me less of an overall effect. I felt a slightly light feeling to my head and that was it.”
Overall, I’d probably stick to a half of one of these because two halves makes an effect last twice as long.
So Were They Good?
Yes. At Ethereal Gold Dispensary we give our honest opinions in our reviews, and I would 100% try these again. While they didn’t give me the spiritual effect I desired, they did give a great content & uplifting experience. I’m curious to see what other mushroom products Hometown Hero comes out with in the future, and I will certainly be trying them. The taste of these is also fantastic. The only thing I will say that could be better is that the gummies are quite large and soft. So if you put a whole one in your mouth, it’s legitimately like putting a mushroom cap on your tongue (the gummies are larger than a quarter).
